Player Code of Conduct
I understand that a condition of being a registered Player at Somerville Junior Football Club is that I as a player am required to maintain a standard of behaviour and conduct that is in the best interests of the Club and the game of Australian Rules Football.
I declare that I will:
*By registering our child with the Somerville Junior Football Club we agree to abide by these principles. We will ensure that our child understands the expected behaviour of the playing club SJFC. We support the SJFC in its undertaking and encourage the SJFC to take any necessary disciplinary actions including the suspension and banning where warranted of any players, parents/guardians, and/or supporters for repeated or serious breaches of these Codes of Conduct.
I declare that I will:
- Play for the fun of it and not just to please parents and coaches.
- Abide by the rules of the game and rules set down by your coach, club, and league.
- Ensure that, both on and off the field, your behaviour is consistent with the principles of good sportsmanship. Swearing of any nature is not permitted at any time, and offensive words are not to be included in the team song.
- Work equally hard for yourself and your team. Your team’s performance will benefit and so will you.
- Never ridicule or yell at players for making mistakes or losing a contest. Your involvement is to play for fun and enjoyment and winning is only part of that.
- Cooperate with your coach and teammates and respect the ability of your opponent.
- Do not question the officials and umpires judgment and never their honesty.
- Always conduct yourself in a manner that is expected of your teammates, club, and family. Be proud to walk off the ground after each game knowing that you have given your best effort and never involve yourself in an argument with opposing players or officials or umpires.
- Players must not assault/abuse an umpire, other player, official, or spectator.

Parent/Guardian Code of Conduct
The Somerville Football Club has developed a Parent/Guardian and Supporter Code of Conduct to ensure that everyone at the club understands his or her obligations. It is a requirement that every parent/guardian and or supporter is made aware of the Code of Conduct to acknowledge the understanding of the Code and their commitment to comply with the Code.
